What do mixed metals, white pumpkins, candles and gold chargers make? A fabulous Neutral Thanksgiving Tablescape.
I think this has been the prettiest holiday table I’ve set yet. My goal was to create a relatively simple table setting that was practical and neutral with a touch of feminine glitter. It was also important to me that the decor stay on the table because it all adds to the ambiance. I knew that it wouldn’t be family style where all the dishes are sprawled out across the table, although that is really great for most gatherings, we already planned to have a buffet set up in the kitchen.
A practical setting in this case meant enough space for each person to sit comfortably, no unnecessary cutlery or tableware, and all the decor needed to be low in order to avoid leaning to talk to the person across or just not talking because something was in the way. Seeing that it was Thanksgiving I added a few small white pumpkins and miniature corn to be festive of course. The candles contributed to a charming and intimate atmosphere with the dancing flame and glow they created in the silver hurricanes. Last year I used faux flowers and this year I really wanted to include real ones so off to the grocery store I went. I found big beautiful bunches of white hydrangeas. They were perfect for the thanksgiving table because they were low and full. You will see in the photos I also mixed metals, gold and silver. I brought both colours in by using gold chargers, traditional candlestick holders, mini doilies and mini corn. As for the silver, I used short silver mercury glass inspired hurricanes, modern candlestick holders and silver cutlery. You will notice the layer of lace doilies on top of the tablecloth as well, I felt like the whole look needed some texture and pattern and I had those from last year and thought they worked quite nicely.
The overall design can easily be transitioned from the fall Thanksgiving celebration into the winter Christmas dinner with a few minor changes. Enjoy!
As you can see I mixed metals and chairs 😉
