I teamed up with a cheerful little elf from Canadian Tire to create this cute little six foot Rustic Modern Christmas Tree. Now, this is not my typical Christmas tree decor but I really wanted to try something a little different so I did two things; 1. Used modern ornaments and 2. Put the tree in my master bedroom! Yes, my better half thought it was a little crazy but I went ahead with it anyway. Canadian Tire has done such a great job with their Christmas decor and seasonal commercials this year and when I saw the aisle dedicated to silver I was immediately drawn to some of the more modern ornaments.
Sometimes modern feels “cold” to people so by adding a rustic element to soften the look the tree doesn’t feel completely out of place when compared to the rest of our house. Here’s the complete list of products I used:
Pre-Lit Bromley Fir Potted Christmas Tree, 6 Ft.
Snowy Pine Cones
Silver Mini Jingle Bells
Silver Wire Stars
Silver Burlap Ribbon
Here are a few tips to remember when decorating your tree this year:
- Choose a colour palette that compliments the rest of your decor,
- Use multiple ornaments in the same color, shape, and style because repetition is your friend and will create a great impact,
- To create a rhythm, stagger the ornaments one style at a time,
- Lastly, HAVE FUN!!!
It is our tradition to get a real tree for the living room so that will be in the very near future, we go to a local tree farm and cut it ourselves. It’s like walking into a live Christmas movie, so cheesy but so neccessary.
I will have a Christmas master bedroom tour soon so stay tuned for that. You can find last years Christmas Home Tour HERE.
Also, I would like to thank Canadian Tire and their awesome team for working with me on this post. Heres a link to their CANVAS selection.
