I am so excited to finally reveal our fireplace facelift! As I mentioned in the last “Behind the Scenes” post we were desperate to update it since we moved in but it wasn’t at the top of the priority list. Last month I had the wonderful opportunity to partner up with Canadian Tire to select the perfect shade of white from their Premier paint line to complete the project. I settled on Arctic White and couldn’t be happier. When we moved in this space was dark gray with blue bookshelves and stacked stone with blue tones throughout. I am so happy with the transformation; it now feels bright, white, calm, and textured with a touch of modern country. We incorporated shiplap, a neutral brick and a floating reclaimed warm wood mantle. It works well through all four seasons and I can’t wait to decorate it for the holiday. We also changed the lighting to a lantern style chandelier in order to create the modern country look, allow more artificial light to shine through in the evening and take up a little more space without overwhelming the room.
The Premier Active Arctic White in the satin finish was perfect for this project because of it’s durability, amazing coverage and stain resistance. Our living room gets quite a bit of afternoon and evening sun with a deep orange tone so it was important to select a good quality paint and colour that will stand up against harsh sunlight. To keep the colour consistent I used it to refresh the bookshelves as well. The painting part of the project only took less than one day and it dried in no time. Needless to say, I would choose the same colour and finish again without a doubt. We are thinking of painting the dining room so stay tuned for that in the near future.
