Hi Friends!!
I am so excited because it is finally nursery REVEAL DAY!! Yippee!!
This space is so incredibly special to our little family because in just a few short weeks we will be welcoming our little baby boy home to his new room. It has been a labor of love, we have spent so much time coming up with a plan, sourcing products, installing trim, building furniture and filling it with love and care. I knew it was time to go a little bold with the colour rather then stick to a light bright white so I hope you guys love the modern bear woodland nursery as much as we do. I knew the palette needed to include a dark navy, hunter green, gray, white, brown with a touch of wood and leather. The giant bear image was the jumping off point for the room and I am so glad I found it. The trim detail was so important to me because it offers such a great sense of detail, interest and texture. This space will easily transition from a nursery into a big boy room.
The goal was to create a space that felt, calm, cozy and cocoon like. I didn’t want it to feel to juvenile and I wanted it to be versatile enough to grow with him over time without having to completely overhaul the room as he gets older. The must haves were a crib (naturally), a dresser with large drawers, a rocking chair, a side table or ottoman, greenery, black out drapes, a soft area rug and multiple levels of lights. This room gets a ton of natural light during the day due to the orientation of the house and the sunrise so dark curtains for napping were a must have! I also did not have an official rocker with our daughter so I promised myself if we ever had another baby, a rocker was in order.
The colour scheme was heavily based on the dark navy walls. No matter what, navy always speaks to me. This particular colour is Collingwood from Canadian Tire – Premier Infinity. We narrowed it down to three deep dark blues and this one was the winner, you can find more on the paint here. Funny thing is, Collingwood, Ontario is about an hour from us and it is one of my places to visit because it offers both water and an abundance of greenery, lets just say it is my happy place so this all makes sense.
I didn’t buy a ton of baby related items as we already had a good selection of board books, stuffed animals, a bassinet, stroller, swing and small toys from our daughter to get him started so just the essentials like diapers, wipes, clothes, car seat etc. were necessary. I kept the accessories to a minimum by incorporating, stuffed animals, plants and art, all of which help set the mood by keeping the room natural, fresh and infuse a touch of personality.
On with the reveal! Take a little tour through our modern bear woodland nursery and let me know what you think.

Love what you created! Wondering which Wayfair crib this is and if it’s convertible? Thank you!
Hi Jenn!
The crib is the Beckett 3-in-1 Convertible Crib. It converts from a crib into a toddler/daybed.

Beautiful nursery! What color are the curtains? Where did you get them from?
And if you don’t me asking where did you get that adorable diaper bag?
Hey Jessica,
Thanks for the compliment!! The curtains are dark green, Sanela line at Ikea and the bag I found at Homesense but I also saw it at Buy Buy Baby.
Cheers!

Wondering where you purchased the white dresser from?
Hi Lori,
The dresser is from Ikea. It is one of their most popular items and you could easily change the hardware for a new look. It is the white Hemnes dresser.

Gorgeous baby room! This is my inspiration! 2 questions- 1 do you have a tutorial about the installation of the moulding/boards you used on the wall? 2 what did you use for the board at the bottom in order to match up with your baseboard? My baseboards are more narrow at the top and so I’m not sure what to do with that….? Thank you!!
Hi Andrea,
Thanks so much for your comment! I didn’t do a tutorial this time around but take a look at out dining room board and batten tutorial here to give you an idea:
As for the base, you will have to see if the boards come in various sizes and then have the store cut you a sample if possible. Good luck with your project!
